February 2026 delivered the record forecast revision — and the end of an era for consumer DDR4 retail.
Early February trade coverage (Evertiq, Feb 2) reported TrendForce revising its 1Q26 conventional DRAM contract forecast to +90–95% QoQ — the largest on record. Spot trading cooled briefly around Lunar New Year (eeNews Europe reported mainstream DDR4 1Gx8 3200 spot up just 0.78% WoW to $31.10), with spot running well ahead of contract. At the end of the month, Micron’s exit from the Crucial consumer business took effect, redirecting supply to enterprise and AI data-center customers. Press reports noted Lenovo carrying memory inventories ~50% above normal as OEMs stockpiled.
Micron leaving consumer retail removed one of the last branded new-DDR4 purchase paths. From March onward, a buyer needing DDR4 modules realistically chose between shrinking distributor stock at surging prices — or the secondary market. No strong US-specific used-channel news items surfaced for this month.
