The month in one line

March 2026 put hard earnings numbers behind the shortage narrative — and stretched its expected duration to the horizon.

Primary market

Micron’s FQ2 2026 results (Mar 18) landed at $23.86B revenue, roughly +194% YoY, with the CEO citing a "lack of adequate DRAM and NAND supply" for AI and conventional servers and tightness persisting beyond 2027. Nanya Technology said on Mar 5 the DRAM shortage would last through 2028; press reports quoted SK Group’s chairman putting it at "until 2030". TrendForce’s Mar 31 outlook forecast further 2Q26 contract increases as cloud providers locked supply via long-term agreements.

What it meant for used server memory

Every added year of expected shortage extends the service life of installed DDR4 platforms — and the value of the modules that keep them running. March is when "run the fleet longer" became the rational default for DDR4-era operators, and used-module demand structurally benefits from exactly that decision. No strong US-specific used-channel news items surfaced for this month; the primary-market record above is the anchor.
