Buying New Optical Modules: What Documentation to Expect

Datasheets, test records, DOM readings and lot traceability — what a buyer should ask for when sourcing new optics.

Updated October 2026 · AltoChip team · General reference — project specifics are confirmed in each quotation.

Documents worth asking for

Which of these are available is stated per quotation — we do not invent test results.

DOM readings

Digital optical monitoring (DOM) reports temperature, voltage, transmit and receive power through the module's management interface. Checking DOM after installation is a fast way to confirm a healthy link, and the readings are useful evidence if a module needs to be returned.

Condition

AltoChip supplies optical modules new. Condition, source and after-sales terms are stated line by line in each quotation.
