From Sample to Volume: Validating Optics Before You Scale

A practical validation path for new optics — sample, link test, burn-in, then volume — and what to record at each step.

Updated October 2026 · AltoChip team · General reference — project specifics are confirmed in each quotation.

Why validate first

Documentation narrows the risk; your own equipment closes it. For a new platform or a new module type, a small sample run is the cheapest way to confirm coding, link stability and thermals before committing to volume.

A simple path

1 · SpecifyDevice, port mode, reach, connector, quantity.
2 · SampleA few units on your actual platform and firmware.
3 · RecordLink up, error counters, DOM readings, temperature under load.
4 · VolumeSame part number and configuration, delivered in agreed lots.

Keep the record

Save the sample results with serial numbers. They become the reference for volume lots and for any return discussion later — the same evidence-first approach we use on memory.
