Choosing server memory in 60 seconds

RDIMM vs LRDIMM: RDIMMs (registered) are the standard for most servers; LRDIMMs add a data buffer for maximum-capacity builds. Never mix the two in one system. Speed grades: DDR4-2666V, 2933Y and 3200AA correspond to CPU generations — a faster module in an older platform simply clocks down. Ranks: 2Rx4 modules are the data-center workhorse.
